Patient: Good morning, a metal pole dropped on my head yesterday and I had clear fluid running from my nose for about half an hour. I got checked out and they took my blood pressure and said everything should be fine, so was it just snot? Everything I read about leaking fluid (I’ve not got a cold or allergies or anything) says it needs checking, but if my blood pressure was ok does that mean I don’t need to worry? As my nose isn’t running anymore does that mean the problems stopped?
Doctor: Welcome to Ask The Doctor. We are here to help you on this medical health advice platform.Clear fluid running from nose after a head injury definitely warrants evaluation.Any nose bleed or ear bleed, can be Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF Rhinorrhea). In my opinion you should get a CT head to rule out any intracranial bleed.Share my opinion with your doctor.I hope it helps.Stay Healthy.
