Patient :Last week I sprained my ankle, went to emergency and had x-rays; the doctor told me I had a grade 2 sprain and put it in a cast, told me to RICE it and that it should be fine in a week. I had to take the cast off a day early as the swelling in my foot and ankle made it extremely uncomfortable, I am now able to put some weight on it and limp around a bit, but I've also noticed that now not only is my ankle swollen but my entire foot is swollen and part of my lower leg as well. The doctor had told me that within the week I should be able to move around fine and start getting back to normal and if I still had pain to go back to the emergency. I'm still in some pain (not near as bad as last week) and have very little mobility in my ankle (like I can't put my own sock on for example)I just want to know if this swelling is normal or do I have to go back to the emergency to have another exam done. Thanks everyone in advance and have a great day.
