Head banging while asleep, back and neck pain after sleep.

Patient

Q: Hi,

I am a 27 year old male. I have been head banging while asleep since I was a baby. 3 months ago I started waking up with upper back pain. Some as bad as a crick in your neck where I can't turn my head. It seems that these pains are getting worse. I have tried changing up the pillow and my sleep positions but this hasn't helped. The only thing that I tried with success regarding waking up, refreshed without pain is medical marijuana. The problem is that it isnt legal do that where I live. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Symptoms:  Constant sleep disturbances, banging head on the pillow while asleep, upper back and neck pain when I wake up.
