Patient :Hello. I was at work at car audio shop 2 weeks ago, and while i was hanging a key rack on the wall and I pricked my left middle finger with the screw i was using. It was a small black screw that had been sitting in an open tool container, so im 100% sure it was dusty and dirty. Not sure of rust. Unfortuantely, i didnt wash my hands right after, i finished the job and whatever work was left and before i left for the night, i washed my hands. This was probably 3 hours after the finger poke. Everything was fine for about 5 days and 6 days after, i noticed my finget swelling. So i just iced it when ever possible and webt along with my day. It has been close to 2 and a half weeks since pricking my finger and the swelling has not subsided! It has actually gotten bigger! Its getting more difficult to bend my finger as it swells and it feels bumb. It is warm to the touch and has a redish-purplish color around where the screw pricked the skin. I have not had a tetanus shot in pribably more than 10 years. Should i be concerned about tetanus or would i already be experiancing tetanus symptoms by now? If i do not see a doctor, is there a chance I'll lose my finger??? Im really worried!
