Hello! I've been on birth control pills for years now

Q: Hello! I've been on birth control pills for years now. I've been on the same brand for the past six months at least. I had previously skipped my period by continuously using the pills and skipping the placebo week. It worked the first month, not so great on the second month so I went back to normal. On this new pill I experience some minor breakthrough bleeding about every other month. I was considering skipping the pills again for an upcoming trip. Do you think since I have off and on again breakthrough bleeding it will make me more prone to bleeding if I try to skip again? Thanks!
