Patient: Hello. I am a 26 year old woman. I am 5 feet 9 inches tall and weigh 144 pounds. I have been working at trying to lose weight for the past 3 months. I cut my diet down and started exercising regularly, and initially lost about 6 or 7 pounds (150ish to 144). However, for the past 8 weeks I have seen no results whatsoever. I continued to decrease my intake, now down to about 700 calories a day (I mainly eat veggies, lean proteins, no snacking, small portions, etc). I have also ramped up my workouts progressively and for the past several weeks I have been jogging about 5-6 miles 6 days a week on the treadmill, often followed by a yoga class. I just don’t understand why my weight loss has stalled despite me continuing to crank things up. I can’t cut my intake down anymore, and I do not have any more hours in the day available for exercise. I am also a type 1 diabetic, but I am in excellent control and my insulin requirements have diminished quite a bit since all the exercise. My labwork is all normal, including thyroid. I am desperate to lose at least another 10 pounds and I just don’t know what I am doing wrong.
