Help with asthma flare up

Patient

Q: I have asthma, I was diagnosed about 4 years ago, but I am still so new to it that I don't know what I am doing. I also lost my health insurance, and literally cannot afford my inhalers any longer. It's been a week since I've had my long acting steroid, and my lungs are very tight and I am wheezing, breathing is sort of shallow, but it's not severe. What can I do to slow this down so I don't have to go to the ER?

Symptoms:  Wheezing, coughing, difficulty breathing
