Patient :Hi I am 57 years old and have an enlarged heart and have had a heart doctor for the past 20 years that monitors it regularly for me. My heart has always been at 45% this entire time but last year it dropped to 40% on the echo. I did stress test and blood work and everything came back great. Last week I went in for my 6 month check up and after this echo they said my heart is slightly worsened. And I now have to go back for a follow up heart cathe so they can see exactly what is going on. I exercise daily on a treadmill and eat decent. I do drink tho occasionally. I also take high blood pressure medicine. What scares me is they told me there's no way to reverse how well my heart works and I can only maintain what I currently have. So basically there is no way i can improve my heart? Should I get a second opinion? Is this true? What should I do I'm scared at this point and would like to be around awhile longer. Lost here. Thank you for your time.
