Patient :Hi. I am currently 7 weeks pregnant and last week I got bit by a lone star tick. The tick tested negative for lymes disease but l did develop a small rash around the bite. When I went to my local urgent care to show the doc the bite he wanted to put me on one month of amoxicillin. He said even if the tick was negative, it can carry other diseases. I am very uncomfortable and unhappy about being on antibiotics for a whole month while newly pregnant. Can you tell me if you would recommend a pregnant patient to be put on a month of antibiotics for a tick bite that tested negative for lymes?
