Patient :Hi! I got a copper IUD march 23rd (I’m 18, never been pregnant) and I’m trying to find out what’s up with my menstrual cycle. For the first 6 weeks after insertion, i had spotting/light bleeding every day as well as some cramps in the start. I got my period when i was supposed to, 4 weeks after insertion, which was honestly just an increase in bleeding for about 4 days and some other symptoms. My spotting decreased a lot after taking a type of PMS specific pain killer we have here in Norway, which also can reduce blood loss in IUD users. The spotting subsided, and I was supposed to get my period yesterday. I bled a little bit (obvious menstrual blood), got some bad cramps, took the same type of pain killer and have not bled today. Any thoughts on this? I have not had sex since before I got my first period, 4 weeks after insertion. I’ve also been tracking my fertility (cervical mucus, opening etc), and I had a spike in fertility signs earlier this week. Thanks.
