Patient :Hi. I have an infection in my finger. It's quiet swollen and near my fingernail. I have seen a doctor who prescribed me oral antibiotics and anti bacterial cream. He also told me to pierce it with a needle to get some of the puss out. That was two days ago, and it hasn't got any better. I haven't been able to drain the puss very well as it is so painful. Should I go back to the doctor and get him to cut my finger to get the puss out? Or will antibiotics suffice? I have pierced it multiple times but I can't get much puss out. It is leaking a little bit with blood and some puss.
