Patient :Hi, I recently (in the last 2 weeks) developed tiny itchy bumps all over my face, along with a few on my chest and back. I went to the dermatologist and she diagnosed it as Pityrosporum Folliculitis and put me on a 30 day course of Ketoconazole 200mg BID. Along with this, I've been following a VERY strict anti-candida diet (no sugar, no wheat/white bread, etc). It's been a week since I began the medication, and my symptoms have only gotten worse. My entire back is now covered in these tiny itchy bumps. I called the dermatologist and she switched me to a 30 day course of antibiotics BID instead. I'm wanting a second opinion on this, as I know antibiotics will only make my symptoms SO much worse and that much harder to fight if it is indeed PF. As a side note, I usually have very clear skin and get an occasional single pimple during my period. I'm also 22 years old, and have never experienced anything like this before. So, to sum up, what I'm asking is should I have seen dramatic improvements having been on Nizoral for a week with an extremely strict diet? Or should I stick to it in hopes that it is PF and will potentially take a turn for the better soon.
