Patient : Hi, I'm a 27-year-old female experiencing occasional chest pain. I've already seen a cardiologist, who ran an EKG and said I have an "abnormal" heartbeat. He scheduled me for a stress test and echo, but said I don't need to worry, that my situation isn't dire. But now I'm extremely anxious and unsure if I want to wait the 2 1/2 weeks for this follow up. My question is, can a cardiologist know from an EKG whether or not my heart is severely damaged / in danger of failure, or is there a chance I'll be in for a terrifying surprise during my next appointment?
Symptoms:  Fullness in chest, heart burn, pain in shoulders/arms, chest pain during exercise
