Patient : My sister is 43 years old and was diagnosed with diabetes 1.5 five months ago. She is 5'8, about 140 pounds and is an active wife, mother and pre-school teacher. She is very careful and compliant. She counts carbs and is always thoughtful about what and how much she eats. She started using the Medtronics insulin pump about three months ago. Dispite careful monitoring from her doctor and frequent adjustments to her carb to insulin ratio, every night about two hours after dinner her BG goes up to about 300 and continues to climb throughout the night even though she does corrections with the pump. Is there a reason for or solution to the high BG readings that we are overlooking?
