High Heart Rate with little activity

Patient

Q: Hi, I'm a healthy, fit 17 year old female and I have a consistently fast heart rate. I just did some slow, relaxing stretches to try and calm my body down before bed, only to find that my heart is still beating fast. I measured my heart rate and it's at 85 bpm. Is that bad?

Symptoms:  High heart rate
Doctor

A:   Thanks for consulting ATD. Normal heart rate varies from person to person.Heart rate of 85 bpm is quite normal. Heart rate is normally between 60 (beats per minute) and 100 (beats per minute). Feeling fast rate could be part of your anxiety disorder (as evident by use of Zoloft). Consult your physician for further work up if it continues for a long duration. Have a nice day.
