How do I stop having panic attacks?

Patient

Q: How do I stop having panic attacks?

Doctor

A:   Hello,
Thank you for your medical query at AskTheDoctor.com

I understand your concern.
For panic attacks, the first line of recommended management would be to find out the exact cause of the panic attacks and trying to avoid the trigger factor. A few sessions with the psychologist who can help with the CBT ( Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ) will also be helpful.
Lastly, if these measures do not help then medicines like Diazepam or Alprazolam can be taken after consulting a psychiatrist who can fix the dose and schedule accordingly.

Hope this was helpful,
Regards.
