How long does it take for Birth Control to start working?

Patient: How long does it take for Birth Control to start working, if you are taking it for the first time. I started taking birth control 2 days after my last period.

 

 

Doctor: It takes about a month before the contraceptive effect of the Pill starts. It is advisable to practice someadditional contraception like condoms or spermicidal cream for the first month.
