How long until medication fully kicks in?

Patient

Q: I started doxycycline for prostatitis that I got from an Urinary Tract infection. I've been on the medication for two weeks and while all severe symptoms have gone away I still notice that my stream when peeing is not completely normal how long until all symptoms will subside?

Symptoms:  Prostatitis from a UTI
Doctor

A:   Thanks for your answer.
Usually Urinary tract infections take 3 weeks to resolve and to be sure of your cure from UTI, you need to get one culture & sensitivity of urine to see it is sterile.
Hope it helps.
