How much thirst is worrisome/possibly a symptom of diabetes?

Patient : At what point is thirst considered excessive/a symptom of diabetes? I'm drinking much more than usual (it's hard to estimate, but going on refills of my water bottle, I'd say 10-12 cups not including meals) but I still feel thirsty. I also am urinating more often (8+ times a day. It's 7:30 and I've been to the bathroom 8 times already) and it's very light, almost clear in color, and there's usually a lot of urine. It's been going on for three days. I'm a 16 year old female and I'm not very physically active. Should I be worried?
Symptoms:  Thirst, frequent urination
