How soon can I fly after surgery?

Patient : How soon can I fly after having surgery to remove titanium plates from my forearm? I had them put in several years ago and need to get them taken out because my arm swells periodically and is very painful. An estimate would help so that I can plan work around it.
Doctor :   You are clear to fly immediately after having the metal rods removed. There is no potential harm from flying after this type of surgery.
