How to prevent osteoporosis from depo?

Patient : I've been taking depo provera as birth control for a little over two years now. i semi-regularly take vitamin d one per day and calcium twice per day (as directed by doctor). i'm switching off of depo in about a month or so most likely. i recently found out (today) that my grandmother (who i don't know) suffers from severe osteoporosis. i'm eighteen years old, nineteen next week. what can i do to better prevent osteoporosis in myself? i wouldn't have been on depo if i knew about my grandmother. what can i do?
