Hypoglycemia and hypothyroidism connection

Patient : After experiencing classic symptoms, I was diagnosed yesterday with hypoglycemia after a fasting blood glucose test w/ a level of 50. I was given some dietary information about sugar. I have always been health conscious, eat well (fruit, veg, protein, whole grain, etc) and exercise 5 days a week. I'm 5'7 and weigh 130 lb. My question is do I need to find out why I've become hypoglycemic? I feel like I have very little information. I was also diagnosed a year ago with hypothyroidism and put on 50 mg of levothyroxine. in that case as well i was told to take the medicine and wonder if its important to find out why. If both are really no big deal that's fine, I just wonder if I should do more follow. Thank you.
Symptoms:  dizziness, shakiness, mental cloudiness
