I am 18 years old and fractured my 5th metatarsal

Patient

Q: I am 18 years old and fractured my 5th metatarsal a year and a half ago and was in a cast for two weeks and then a boot for six weeks. Recently I broke my 5th metatarsal and have been in a cast for 3 and a half weeks and still waiting for appointment? I want to know should I just cut off the half cast and use the boot I have from the previous injury because I cannot work in the cast and loosing a lot of muscle mass in leg and the range of motion in my joints?
