I am a man and had unprotected straight sex with

Patient: I am a man and had unprotected straight sex with an outside party about two months ago. I have no symptoms. She didn’t believe she had any STDs and had been tested negative for HIV two months prior. I would like to eventually resume having sex with my committed girlfriend but want to make sure I do my due diligence so as not recklessly put her in danger. I have not yet had sex with her since. I have an appointment to get checked this week. I waited because the internet told me there is an incubation period. Is this enough time or should have have a follow up appointment in several more months time? Is there a standard or best practice protocol?
