Patient

Q: I am currently fasting for a lipid blood test and was wondering if is okay to take paracetamol while fasting?

Doctor

A:   Hello,
Thanks for the query.

It is not advisable to take paracetamol while fasting as it causes severe gastritis in empty stomach. You can try alternate ways of pain relief other than NSAID or paracetamol until you complete the lipid profile test.

Hope this helped.
Regards
