Patient : I had ankle surgery 2 years ago to fix a loose tendon. I had an anchor placed and my tendons tightened. It definitely feels a lot better than it always did! However, the thing that never really went away was the swelling. I was told that a year of swelling could be normal, especially when I was on my feet a lot - which being a college student at the time, I was. But now, I am a teacher and on my feet a good amount of the day and my ankle is still swollen. It is so swollen that its hurts terribly, especially to walk or do stairs that requires my foot to bend, but also just by sitting. Also, none of my shoes fit, socks cut off my circulation, and the other day my entire foot turned purple. I've been trying to keep it elevated and use compression socks, but I feel like I should not have to do that every day!
