Patient :I had blood in my stool on Friday night and Saturday morning. It was normal sized and had maroon and bright red blood in it. I also had abdominal pain and nausea. I was able to visit a doctor on Monday, and she said I had an anal fissure. I left with advice to add more fiber to my diet and drink more water. Today, I tried using the bathroom for around 30 minutes. I tried not to strain too much due to the fissure. I wiped and noticed a significant amount of blood mixed with stool. My stool was about 2 pieces of dime sized stool and almost like pieces of sand on the bottom of the toilet. The toilet also had blood in it, and there was a clump of blood. I will attach a picture. I called the doctor and a nurse could not fit me in until tomorrow. I am located in downtown charleston next to MUSC and have close access to a hospital. I currently feel like I have to vomit, my stomach is cramping, and I feel like I have to diarrhea but I can barely push anymore. I do not have a fever. Is it possible to bleed a significant amount with a fissure? Or could it be something else? Lastly, should I go to the hospital tonight?
