Patient :I had my 19th VP shunt revision last Saturday. While I was there my blood culture grew out negative rods (whatever that is) and I had to stay extra days getting iv antibiotics. I am home now and feel absolutely awful. I am trying not to take the oxy the dr gave me since I had so much morphine in the hospital. Now I cannot seem to keep anything down. My incision hurts very badly. My head hurts but that's from the vomiting-i don't think it's a pressure headache. I also had a UTI while In the hospital so I take bacterium twice a day. Today I woke up with a stopped up nose, red sore throat & headache. Also constant vomiting. Phenergan is not working but ABH gel is. Could I possibly be going through withdrawl from all of the medication I have had recently? What do I need to do to feel better? I seriously feel like I have a bad case of the flu.
