I have an auto immune - ocular inflammatory dis ease

Q: I have an auto immune - ocular inflammatory dis ease. Choroiditis. It didn't change my vision much over the last 12 years until recent. The vision loss has double. My opthamologist gave me steroid drops for my eye pain and pressure (which helped a lot). He also wanted me to get MRIs ( brain and orbits) and blood work to help us get tithe bottom of the cause for inflammation. I'm concerned that he is asking for 2 tests that rule out syphilis; VDRL & FTA. I have never been diagnosed with an STD. I was wondering if this is possible since I gave blood for a good 8 years (3-4x/yr). I would have believed the Red Cross would have blocked me instead of calling to encourage me to continually give. Is there any validity to my line of thinking?
