Patient :I have tonsillitis. I'm 16 and I don't have health insurance. My dad didn't believe that I actually had tonsillitis (he thought it was just a cold) and he ended up taking me to a walk-in clinic after a week of my symptoms. They progressively got worse, I could barely talk on day 7, my tonsils were extremely swollen and I was always coughing up this gross yellow/brown thick mucas (there was occasionally small amounts of blood in it). At the clinic I found out I had a 101.6 fever. They checked me out and confirmed my tonsils were huge and put me on antibiotics. I've been taking two Amoxicillin tablets a day. I've been taking them for two days now. This morning I woke up and my left tonsil hurt everytime I swollowed. I also noticed the left side of my face was swollen. This is the first time I've experienced actual pain, my tonsils have always been just annoying and in the way. By the way, my left tonsil also seems to have much more yellow spots on it (tonsil stones?). Any idea what my condition is and what I should do?
