Q: I injured my thumb playing basketball 2 weeks ago (it was bent back with a lot of force) and went to my GP two days later to get it checked, and all they did was take an x-ray and since there were no broken bones, they sent me off, but it was vey bruised and swollen at rhe base of my thumb, which they didnt take a look at. I asked around and have been told that it is a sprain, and since then i have used a bandage and wrapped it around to keep it in place. The soreness, bruising and swelling have gone but it is still stiff and i am unable to move it backwards very far or bend it, it interrupts mg daily activities such as writing and grasping. I wanted to know how long it would take to heal, and if i should use sports tape or a brace, and how long that would take as well.

Symptoms:  Stiffness in thumb, limited movement
