Patient :I smoke about about a pack and a half of cigarettes a day. Recently I have been experiencing a pain in my chest. More like a soreness. It last for about an hour at a time. Just to the left of my sternum. About where my heart is, I guess. I am a semi active person. I play ice hockey a couple times a week and was going to the gym regularly until about 6 months ago when I broke my wrist playing hockey. I just had my cast removed last week. I had a bone graft and a screw put in my wrist. Since the cast was put on about 6 months ago, my eating habits went way down and my exercise went way down also. I am also a recovering I.V. heroine user. I have been clean about 2 years with a couple moth slip up a few months ago. I am concerned that the smoking has a direct correlation to my chest pain tho. I know I've pumped many bad substances into my body over the years, but now I am turning everything around. It hurts when I breath in very deep. And when u breath normally, it feel like the left center of my chest, something inside of it, is being squeezed by someone's fist. Please let me know if this is something I should be worried about.
