Patient : I tested positive for hsv-1 several years ago, but i have never had an outbreak. a few days ago i burned my tongue, and i may be eating more spicy foods lately. now the side of my tongue seems irritated and hurts when it rubs against my teeth. it sounds like an inflamed foliate papillae, but could it be a cold sore forming on my tongue? could that happen after years of showing no signs? (i made my doctor test me for absolutely every std, i have heard lots don't even test for hsv-1)
