I took Plan B ( emergency contraceptive ) one day after sex

Patient

Q: I took Plan B ( emergency contraceptive ) one day after having unprotected sex, I then had unprotected sex again 5 hours after taking the medication. Was I still protected against pregnancy? Or should I buy another dose?

Doctor

A:   Hello,
Thanks for the query.

There is no need of taking another dose of plan-b. You would stand protected for next 72 hrs. All you need to do is to wait for the withdrawal bleed to initiate within 7-10 days hence which shall rule out pregnancy for sure.

Hope this helps you.
Regards
