Question:

Ibuprofen and Cysts on the Head

Dear Ask The Doctor:
Can applying a paste made of ibuprofen and water to a cyst on the back of one's head make the cyst go down?

Answer:

Most likely not. The majority of cysts are caused by bacterial organisms and require your immune system or antibiotics to cure them. Ibuprofen is not an antibiotic.
