Ice cold runner

Patient : I run 3 to 4 miles every other day. The scenario occurred when I took the Army physical fitness test, with the 2 mile run portion of the test. Within a quarter mile into the run, while I was previously at a slow sprint, my body slowed to an almost walk. The day I took the test, it was very cold outside, which was the environment for the test. I know I have a problem with the cold because slight coldness gives me pain. During that quarter mile into the run, my legs begin to hurt. My lungs felt a bit different than they normally do, which I attribute to the cold weather. Hours after the run, I experienced breathing difficulty, which was over after 3 days, but my legs within my quadriceps had the pain of a beginner. I'm an avid runner, usually without these issues. After 3 days, I still feel the pain in my quadriceps. Why am I having the pain?
