I'm 19 and pregnant with my first, I was told

Patient : I'm 19 and pregnant with my first, I was told he is small for the gestational age (only by a week but that he is almost a pound less than he should be) and that I'm carrying really low. His father and I are both small and I know that is a factor but is there anything I can do for help make sure he is growing normally? And is how low I'm carrying a sign of preterm labor?
