I'm a very active person, and compete regularly in MMA

Q: I'm a very active person, and compete regularly in MMA. I exercise vigorously atleast 6 times a week. About 2 weeks ago after a round of jump rope and sprints outside I started feeling a horrible sharp pain on the medial side of my tibia. It only hurts when I try and run or jump rope or any leg activity. I can see there is a bump sticking out the side of the leg and its tender from there all the way down. Could this be shin splints? If so, what's the best method of getting better? Thanks.
