Patient :I'm not sure how to ask this. I'm on a type of birth control that withholds my periods like the depo shot, called Seasonale. I only get it 3-4 times a year. I had breakthrough bleeding once before but it happened again now, and it's a lot different. It's really heavy, much more than even a regular period for me. Also I've been having abnormally painful cramps, way worse than a usual period as well. And unlike normally (cramping on the first day and sometimes the last) the painful cramps have been consistent for a little over a week now. And the bleeding has lasted longer too. Also, I know it's normal for tissue or lining to come out but a few times there were really big pieces, something I've never experienced before. They were golf ball sized, and a little more solid than usual, like Jello. None of this has happened to me before. Also in January, my doctor went on vacation and I wasn't aware, so I was off of my pill for about a week before she came back and I could finally get my prescription refilled. My boyfriend and I were careful but there was one time that the condom broke. So maybe I'm just being paranoid but my friend said it sounds like I might have had a miscarriage and that I should ask a doctor.
