Patient : I had a surgical abortion just over three weeks ago. I was at five weeks and six days, there was very little bleeding that lasted less then three days. Increasingly, I've had random lower abdominal pains similar to cramps, but not lasting more then a few minutes. When I went to my follow-up three weeks after (just a few days ago now) the ultrasound tech found that I had an incomplete abortion and called the doctor in. He did an awful job of explaining what was going on or answering my questions. My question was (and what I'm asking now is) will it pass naturally or will I have to have another surgical abortion? He asked me if I wanted to go back into surgery right then and there, and said only that if I didn't the pain would get worse. I want to be as natural as possible, I don't take drugs or medications including birth control, and my cycle is very regular. I know that it should come within 1-3 weeks, but will it with an incomplete abortion?
