Patient : 4 mths ago I gave birth to a baby. While pregnant I was tested for all std's and results were negative. I have been with the same partner for 9 yrs and have been faithful. When I went to see my obgyn for post natal check up it was discovered I had tested positive for gonorrea. However my partner is negative. My son was born face up and also did not have infection. About a week after giving birth I developed a persistant headache, fever and chills. My doctor put me on an antibiotic. I now believe this was the gonorrea setting in. The ob that delivered my baby did not change his scrubs in between deliveries. He was delivering a set of twins. He delievered one twin came into deliver my baby and then went to deliver the other twin. I believe I contracted gonorrea at some point in the hospital as there is nowhere else this could have come from. One of the twins was in the nicu for an infection. If the mother of the twins had gonorrea could I have been infected from fluid off of the doctors scrubs? No more than 2 minutes passed between the deliveries. Can you become infected without having sexual contact with an infected person?
