Infection in foot - diabetic

Patient : Hi. I have had diabetes since age 9. I am 56 now. I am a brittle diabetic but I don't have any kidney problems, or retinopathy. No neuropathy as far ad I know. I have a rheumatoid nodule on the outside of my right toe that has just become very red, swollen, and painful. Very hot to the touch. Should I wait to see my doctor until Monday? I was just very worried and thought maybe I should go to the ER but don't really want to pay the money if I don't have to, what would you suggest?
