Patient : My recent blood test shows that my Iron level is solid (46), but my Ferritin is low (6.0), as are my RBC (3.96), HGB (11.0), and HCT (34.2%) counts. My doctor prescribed me a single 325 mg Iron pill to take daily for the next three months. If an otherwise healthy menstruating woman (I'm 40) only needs 18 mg of Iron daily, isn't this way too much?
