Irregular vaginal bleeding

Q: I've been on birth control for five years now. My periods have become regular. This month however I started lightly bleeding on and off four days before my period was due, and I still have this same light bleeding now, making in 13 total days of bleeding. Today it has been just slightly heavier, but not enough to fill a pad. I have had some mild cramps today as well. This is nothing like my usual period. I usually have a heavy flow lasting six days with cramps a few days before my period starts, and they usually go away once my period starts. Confused and wondering what could be wrong.

Symptoms:  Irregular, light vaginal bleeding lasting two weeks
