Is prior drug use relevant when choosing an antidepressant?

Patient: Would it be better to use an antidepressant that raises levels of dopamine and serotonin for someone who used to be addicted to drugs (such as Cocaine, Ecstasy and Ketamine) since these drugs deplete dopamine and serotonin, rather than an antidepressant that just raises serotonin?
