Is sex safe with urinary tract infection

Patient

Q: Is sex safe with urinary tract infection?

Doctor

A:   Sexual intercourse is on f the most common risk factors for Urinary Tract Infections. Certainly if you already have a UTI, it would be best for you to clear your infection first.
Your urethra is already compromised and irritated; intercourse would make it even worse. I would suggest you that in the future urinate after having intercourse, drink plenty of water and wipe from front to back to prevent infection recurrences. I wish you prompt recovery.
