Patient :I've been very active and losing weight for a few months. One day while doing jumping jacks, my upper back, right between my shoulder blades, had a very sharp pain. During every day tasks and most other exercises it doesn't even tingle or have a hint that something is wrong. If I do jumping jacks, it's excruciating, so I don't do them anymore. Other bouncing exercises, running in place, jump rope, etc, will occasionally make it flare up. It's been about a week and I think it might be getting worse which is not what I want. If I'm doing crunches, sometimes it hurts. Plank position hurts as well. and I can't do some upper body exercises with weights. I've made an appointment with my doctor but it's not for a week yet. Is there anything I can do, besides rest, to help this feel better? I rested yesterday and went about crazy without my typical workouts. Thank you so much.
Symptoms: Sharp pain between shoulder blades, causes very temporary shortness of breath, radiates from center of upper back outward, only occurs while exercising.
