I've had my braces on for the past five years

Patient

Q: I've had my braces on for the past five years and the only thing left to fix is my slight overbite which we've tried to fix with rubber bands for the past two and a half years. I was really bad about wearing them for a while and then not wearing them for the first year and a half or so but since then I've been wearing them like the orthodontist says. No matter how many times I've told my orthodontist that I've been wearing them, he just says that I haven't been wearing them enough and that I just need to wear them more even though I wear them all the time even doubling up sometimes. There aren't enough hours in the day. What should I do to get them off? Am I out of options?
