Patient : Hi. About 7 weeks ago I had a bang to my knee. It was quite a hard bang on metal. There was an almost instant swelling to my knee, and a graze on the kneecap. I had swelling and bruising to my knee for about a week and could not put my full weight on it for 4 or 5 days. It was painful to walk and if it was touched it would be really painful. This lasted for about 2 weeks but then it was fine. But a couple of weeks ago I was kneeling on my bed and got this really intense, sharp, shooting pain then went through my knee. I stood straight up and my knee was fine, there was no pain at all. This happens every time I kneel on my knee or when if my knee is pressed or banged directly on the kneecap. I have no idea what this could be caused by and would prefer not to go to a doctor. What could be the cause? Thank you.
