Knee injury


Q: Sustained an injury to my right knee on a hiking trip three weeks ago when I fell. I didn't hear it pop or anything. The swelling hasn't been that much. However, my leg was badly bruised on the inside, just below the knee area and down toward the ankle. First, I had trouble walking on it without pain. Took anti inflammatory and it helped a lot. Stopped taking it after a number of days, it was more sore than I realized. Slept with it bent, took several minutes in the morning to straighten out and put weight on it. For the first two and a half weeks, I was pretty good while sitting, could almost forget it occurred, but had problems upon standing, straightening.For two days now, I've been able to get out of bed and put weight on it, but now I have problems bending it. The first two and a half weeks were spent sleeping with it bent due to the pain and trying to straighten it out in the morning.Now it seems I'm almost opposite.I've been trying to sleep with it straight the last few nights. I sat down but upright for most of one day about a week ago at home. I think the next day was probably the best my knee has seen. I'm not sure whether to give it more time or whether three weeks is more than enough and continuing use may cause problems. Is it better to use it or not to use it? Most of the pain is on the inside portion of the leg, the left side of the right knee. However, the pain is inside the knee, mostly left portion, when I'm trying to bend, straighten or stand. Wondering whether I am hurting anything by giving it time.
